WALL-SMART designs and manufactures three types of ceiling and wall mounts tailored for different installation needs: New Construction, Retrofit, and Solid Surface.

nc - New Construction Mounts

Can I get the mount in any color?
WALL-SMART New Construction flush mounts are supplied unpainted. They are designed to be painted after installation, allowing them to seamlessly match the desired color and texture of the wall.

Can I install the mount in any thickness drywall?
All products are designed for 1/2“ drywall unless specified otherwise. There is a 1/8” shim pack for 5/8” drywall (10-01-067). For mounting solutions in other thicknesses, please contact us.

Can I install the mount in any thickness of drywall?
WALL-SMART products are primarily designed for standard drywall construction. However, they can also be installed in concrete walls using a WALL-SMART concrete installation box or adapter. This additional back box allows for flush installation in concrete. Each WALL-SMART product has a compatible concrete installation box. For more details, refer to our online catalog.

Are the New Construction mounts easy to install?
Yes, New Construction mounts are as easy to install as any standard drywall installation. However, we recommend having a drywall expert handle the installation to ensure a seamless and professional finish.

Retrofit Mounts

Are the Retrofit mounts easy to install?
Yes, the installation is straightforward and does not require any drywall work or painting. It typically takes about 10-15 minutes to complete the installation.

Can I choose the color of the bezel?
The Retrofit mounts are supplied in black or white, or you can choose the unpainted version, which allows you to paint it to match the wall finish for a seamless look.

Are Retrofit mounts flush with the ceiling/wall?
The Retrofit mounts are nearly flush with the surface, protruding only 0.16" (4mm) for a minimal, seamless look.

Which surfaces can a Solid Surface mount be installed in?
Yes, our Solid Surface mounts are designed for installation in various materials such as wood, metal, partition walls, marble, glass, and more, providing flexibility for a wide range of surfaces.

How is this installation different from New Construction installation?
Solid Surface mounts are installed from the back of the wall, unlike New Construction mounts, which are installed from the front. Solid Surface installations also require precise routing in the surface and include depth calibration screws to adjust for the thickness of the material.

General FAQ for all types of Installations

Is the mounted device accessible?
Yes, ALL devices installed with WALL-SMART are fully accessible for daily use or servicing, ensuring ease of maintenance and functionality.

Will I hear the device's audio once installed in-wall?
Yes, you will hear the device's audio. However, for optimal audio quality, we recommend using a mount with audio grills to ensure clear sound transmission.

Do the mounts affect the performance of devices such as access points?
No, WALL-SMART mounts are made from moisture-resistant MDF, which is transparent to RF signals, ensuring that the performance of devices like access points is not affected.

How do you flush mount devices requiring air flow, like thermostats and temperature sensors?
For thermostats, one option is to recess the mount and connect it to an external temperature sensor. Another option is to design a mount with built-in ventilation grills to allow airflow.
For temperature sensors, a flush mount can be designed with a larger gap around the front edge or include ventilation grills to ensure proper air circulation.

Do WALL-SMART products for iPad fit newest models of iPad/mini/Air/Pro?
WALL-SMART offers wall mounts for all new iPad models

Can the iPad be installed horizontally?
All iPad wall mounts may be installed in any orientation.

How do you power up the iPad?
WALL-SMART Invisible New Construction, Solid Surface and Retrofit mounts for iPad are supplied with a POE to USB converter.

Does the POE provide Ethernet and power?
WALL-SMART offers two versions, one with power only and one with power + Ethernet.

What sized Access Point Mount/Uni-INWall should I choose for my device?
Please refer to the size tables for the internal dimensions of the Access Point Mounts and Uni-INWall enclosures to determine the suitable size for your device.

Inevitably, hardware changes will happen – will my WALL-SMART adaptor be compatible with future models?
WALL-SMART makes every effort to design its adapters to minimize the need for changes when upgrading to new equipment. However, we cannot guarantee that equipment manufacturers won't implement significant modifications in future models. Since each mount is designed specifically for the device, changes in dimensions, audio grills, or other engineering factors may require adjustments to the adapter.

Is there a lockable version?
Yes, a hidden lock version can be custom made to order, where the door opens only when a key is held in a specific position.

I cannot find certain products in your list. Is it possible to design a mount for the product I represent/manufacture?
Yes, WALL-SMART designs and manufactures custom mounts for various third-party manufacturers.. Please contact us for more information.

Which products (besides drywall U channels) can I use as wall mount horizontal supports?
In case you do not want to prepare horizontal wall-mount supports (connecting between vertical studs) out of drywall U channels, you may use some of the following products (or similar):
